Submissions

SUBMISSION INFORMATION

Submissions are open only to current students at the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for the Arts and Technology.

The editorial staff strongly recommends that students review a copy of ASGARD (available for purchase online –will be delivered to student pick-up in the gym) to get a sense of what we’re looking for.

We encourage submissions from any focus area.

Because ASGARD is intended for all ages (and because VHSL guidelines forbid graphic violence, pornographic content, and certain levels of profanity), accepted submissions may need to be edited or modified to achieve suitability for our audience.

Our submission categories are Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, Free Verse Poetry, Form Poetry, Blackout/Erasure Poetry, Drama, Short Film, Music, Dance, and Visual Art.

Submit by Friday, November 13 for an early response and a greater chance of acceptance.

The final deadline is Tuesday, December 15, at midnight.

ANONYMITY POLICY

ASGARD evaluates submissions anonymously to ensure that our focus is on your creative work, not on you.

Your name should NOT appear on the submission files that you upload–not even in the title of the document you upload.

If your name is included in the name of the file, we will be able to see who you are.

Writers of creative nonfiction should use a pseudonym for the initial reading process if their actual name appears in the piece.

CONTRIBUTOR BIOS

Please submit a contributor biography in the comments section when you submit. Please write, at a minimum, your grade and focus area at ARGS. If you have any prior publications or interesting biographical facts, please include those as well.

Contributor bios will not affect your chance of acceptance, but they will be used in the contributors’ notes in the back of the magazine if your work is accepted. Please keep them professional (although they can be both professional and humorous).
